So. been a few bike things going on - My dad has got his on the road, and a mates is in the process of being hardtailed.

I hopped into the garage as I'm not down on the V'rod today, even though it would be a lovely day to be workshoppin. There have been a couple of little bits that needed sorting, first one being the rear guard. When a mate made it, he didn;t make captive nuts on the inside and there is feck all room to hold a nut in place while struggling to get a bolt in. So I whipped it off and stuck some on.

guard off - this is made from a bit of metal I robbed off Si at attitude customs in southampton. it's been split and re welded down the middle as well as pie cut and shaped.

Not the worlds prettiest or best welds, but solid and not going anywhere. The wire feed on my dads welder is broken too, so was coming out a bit fast.

I then had to chop some bolts up as I only had 1 that was the right size.

The other niggle I had was to do with the chain adjusters. I had some threaded tube made up to mimic old harley style of adjustment where the bolt pushes the spindle back. originally the bolt in there was really short so I bought 2 more which were way too long. So I trimmed those down as well.

It needs a new battery and some insirance and then i will put it in for MOT again. Hopefully at the end of this month.

Then after shake down and summer it will get stripped, coated and rebuilt. Can't wait to have it on the road. Thinking back, it has been over 2.5 years ago that I sold my 750 fighter, so can;t believe I can remember how to start a bike, let alone ride one.

Nice to see the XS again Archie. It was indeed a lovely Spring day down at Loony's workshop today.
So are you bringing the bobber along to the Basingstoke show this year? If so, that'd be 3 chopped XSs on our pitch -yours, Tom's & mine.
For my own peace of mind I think I'd put a locknut on the other side of those chain adjuster bolts by the way  Wink

£371 all mods declared. only on a 4k policy and TPFT

Don't know how they are going to measure the mileage though when I don't have a speedo.
