Now we've got a Mopar of our own, we've started looking beyond the pretty paintjobs on a few others -you'd be amazed just how rough some are. We walked around a line up of big Yanks last year with someone who knew most of them -that one's got a fender that's almost entirely filler, that one's got a vinyl roof to hide a rust hole the size of your fist, that one's missing half the trunk floor, that one's ...the list went on & on. At least we'll know our car inside out & that there's no nasty suprises waiting for us.

Nearly forgot- Taz recently arranged to buy a carburetor for her Dodge motor from one of her fellow Mopar Muscle Association members. He lives in Calne, Wiltshire, about 2 hours drive from us, so to save posting it she arranged for us to drive over & collect it on Friday evening. She rang the guy when we were about 5 miles from his house & his wife said He's gone out for the evening. Was he expecting you? Bugger. His phone was switched off & she had no idea what a carb is or where he might have put it. Bugger. We decided to call in anyway & leave the cash with her so he could post it on. The wife took us out to his garage to look for it. No sign of it anywhere. Then just as we were leaving I spotted a box labelled Carter 625 4 barrel on the shelf by the door. Sure enough, there was the carb we were looking for -we hope. Mrs Mopar said we should take it & it served him right if it was the wrong one. So we took it. Haven't had any panicky phone calls yet from him saying that's the one off his own car or it's some ultra rare collectable model, so hopefully it's O.K We called in on Brock in Marlborough on our way home. He tells us Carter carbs are a copy of a Holley carb, but better & that anything over a 600 is fine for our engine, (we've bought a 625). It also cost us half what Brock paid for his. Update: Taz has just got a message from the guy. Yup, it was the right carb. Phew!

Dunno yet but I want solid steels so that's probably what I'll end up with. It has Wolfrace Slot mags on it at the moment.

We called at the restoration shop again this morning. No more progress as we're still waiting for the new floorpan & sill to arrive from the States, but we confirmed with John that we want them to do the back end bodywork. He's written us a shopping list of the panels we'll need so we can shop around for them. Knowing that they'll be tackling the rest of the car, John says he'll have the rear quarter panels chopped off by next week so we can see just how much needs replacing.

Had a call today and the bits I ordered are finally in the country. Yippee. They just have to go through customs then me pay them then they continue their way to John's place. It was late when he called so won't be till the morning now before I get the call. Phoned John to warn him and he told me that the cutting up of the back end has begun. Should make some interesting shots when we get there Friday.

We went to Johns yesterday to see how much he had cut it up. As said previously, I think, we decided to leave the car there and he's going to do the back end for us as it turns out it's as bad if not worse than the front end. Well I think the photos will speak for them selves.

This is what the back end was made of. The lump in Andy's hand is infact glass fiber the other stuff is filler and a lot of it as you can see compared to the size of my thumb.

That last photo was the panel that is between the back window and the boot lid. The whole back end is that thick in filler and even thicker in other places. Now for the rotten photos

Now for some new bits that arrived. John has allocated me my own little corner for all my stuff to go in. I even have my own name tag at the back of my bit. first photo is the new floor section and the second is the sill.
