Leaking roof stops play! a sorta rant!

This is just a shed in my garden, inside the garden wall and anyway we don't have many problems in this area.  I got the shed originally to set up a pottery - then I discovered bikes...............

well can i join in this ,rant, my garage/workshop is built on solid rock its reinforced concrete and steel with a reinforced concretet roof thats no quite flat , infact it has 8inch,s of ,,fall,, from front to rear

 the waters coming in just about everywhere even up through the concrete floor in the back corner
 
it also has an inspection pit 6ft deep 16ft long concrete lined but dug out of solid rock  its now 4ft deep like a ,bqqqdy,, boating lake

 i lit the workshop stove earlier and eventually couldnt see for steam










and i,m trying to build my damnend trike in the middle of it alll

Rant continues...............
 Well I did manage to stop the leaks,by sort of putting a gutter on the inside under each seam . Worked fine for a few days then...Its bloody leaking again! Cant be arsed to look from where,so am gonna swop workshops to the back of my garage where I first built the frame.Its smaller but will be easier to keep warm in there.When I did the frame I temporarily extended my garage by lifting up the door and boxing in round it,this gave me about 5 ft more ,but have since removed the extension ,so I'll have to get more ply to extend it again!Then Ive gotta get more lighting in there .Son is a sparky ,so away we go again(groan)
 May have to replace a couple of roof sheets as well...really need this at this time of year! Plus I HATE spending money on stuff like this!

Taz & I don't own the cottage we live in -it's tied to her job as a livery yard manager, so we don't want to spend money either. We plan to eventually pull down the large wooden shed we have at the end of the garden & replace it with one twice the size & much sturdier. So I don't want to spend time & money on the present one really. The leakage is becoming ridiculous now though. Thankfully the drips seem to be missing Taz's trike project, but the bench is often swimming in water after a night of heavy rain & the bench vice is red with rust now. We've tried adding more felt to the roof, but there's not enough support underneath it -the nails just bounce out of the flimsy roof slats. I think we might buy several large tins of liquid rubber from B & Q & just pour them over the roof as thick as we can get it.

Why not try small screws and a chordless driver instead of nails mate Or put a small roof lat along the edge of the felt instead of nailing it

Although my shed don`t leak, it does suffer condensation! bloody horrible trying to do anything with cold water dripping off the roof and down the back of your neck.

Another boring instalment......
  Well at last I think Ive got some good fortune on this! Had to check over the roof of my garage (its a precast type with part corrugated apex type asbo roof ,and part corrugated plastic repairs I did yrs ago.)At that time  I added a false roof of ply inside ,flush with the bottom of the tiebars,then mounted strip lights to this.But the lights ,altho' OK for me 'cos Im a short arse ,get in the way for some visitors,so today I knocked up a recessed light box to get two twin 6ft  lights up flush into the ply 'ceiling'. I cut a hole in the ply to get a good look around to see if there were any leaks that were dripping onto the ply. To my amazement it was literally bone dry up there,so dry I think I may lay some insulation up there.(I also found some tube and stuff laying on top of the rafters ,which I must've sealed in all that time ago!) A nice length of 2" copper tube as well! So-o-o ... I now see an end in sight to all this... Fit light box,seal up all gaps to stop drafts up there, with expanding foam. fit a panel over the hole I hacked out , and add a few more strip lights ,giving me the light box ones plus a d/4ft over the bench ,and 2 x 5fts else where.Another coat of white emo everywhere to brighten it up.A new bit of floor covering from my stash.Add a few more sockets round the walls,and I should be done by tamara night (thats if I can get my son out of his pit to help me before the light goes in the afternoon!)At a later date in a few weeks,when the weather clears a bit, replace a bit of roof with a few corry sheets I found at my stash place.Then its the big move of tools/trike etc in there from the shed on Sunday!
