My build shed roof is leaking, cant make a start on the trike until its fixed!Got more sockets and lighting fitted in the shed yesterday. But I ve decided the roof is leaking too much to carry on with the trike at the moment!Ive put up with it too long ,so now its crunch time!Been pricing up various replacement or repair options. To do it right will cost at least £200 for materials.(new felt roof)To repair the leaks will be about £50 for f/glass(its a f/glass roof)BUT its so wet /damp /shi**y out there ,I doubt whether it will a)stop raining long enuf or b) be damp free enuf to effect a good f/glass repair! Bugger! There is anuver option ...sling the Mercedes out of the garage and use the garage. Just too good condition to do that ..trying to sell it at present, but too many chancers interested! If the right person came along ,I may sell it for less, but not to the existing lot of messers! I may be forced to store it outside if I want to get the trike going for 2010!

Thought of all the various answers to this prob. Good quality tarps are expensive ,and this is a big roof! Cheapo ones rip too easily when they flap about! Sorted a price to re roof it ..£240 for corr sheets! Nope ,gonna have to re think the whole set up Im afraid!

hi rod what about flowcoat its gel resin mix with parrafin wax added so its not sticky cheaper than re roofing or re fibreglassing and you just paint it on to seal leaks it is very thick so takes some brushing but i have used it on many a roof only thing is you need a dry roof and dry day only takes a few hours to set depending how much catalyst you add

Yeah I know about flo gel.Trouble is ,the surface of the roof (the gel coat side of the 8x4 panels) is so snotty with green stuff from the trees etc that I cant clean it up easily. Also,a few months ago I denso'd(sylglassed) all the joints,so they are gungy as well! Th roof is 12ft x 18 ft ,so alot of expanse there!Think Imayve solved it (gotta check when I go out there later) Ive cut some aly about 4" wide ,and bent it along its length into a very slight 'v' shape to act as a sort of gutter.Ive then glued this to the u/side of the f/glass,under the joins that are leaking all the way from the apex to the eaves. So when the join leaks(often Grin) It will run down this'v' and out at the eaves. Ive cut a piece of each joist away so that it fits tight against the roof. I used some stuff called all weather sealant, which aparently cures even in wet conditions to stick the 'v' to the roof.Ive done one seam ,gotta do the other3 today! Cutting the aly with snips ,then gunning the sealant on (its thick, and hard to get out of the gun)really caned my hand,so today Im goona cut up some finely corrugated light weight plastic roof sheets I have. I'll use the corrugations as the gutter. The 'flat' part (top of corrugations) will be the part I stick to the u/side of the roof. If all this works Im hoping it will at least get me out of trouble until the spring, when I will HAVE to re do the roof.Hopefully the trike will be done by then ,and I wont be spending so much time in the shed anyway!

Know how you feel mate, the roof of my garage/carport is p1ssing water like Niagara falls, boxes of old bike and car parts are stacked anywhere dry. Cant get to the Indian on the workbench or even get Bobcat out  Angry Angry Angry tried bodging it but no joy Roll Eyes Roll Eyes just got to wait for a dry day (when I'm not at work, some hope of that as we enter the busiest 3 weeks of the year) and re-roof the bugger.
Top that  Cry Cry Cry I went up the barn last week to find the front end of the Pop soaking as a door on the loft above the workshop had blown off and the rain was steaming in through the gap and then dropping down onto the Pop, unlocked the lockup bit to find a panel missing from the upper wall and rain pissing in through that as well, luckily all my electrical gear was in the other corner.

Jeez I need to move to France and get myself a barn.....

Visqueen isnt uv resistant,as I found out a few yrs ago on my old garage! Shuttering ply is a hell of a weight for my frame construction. When I re roof it ,I will do it in Corrugated plastic,as its lightweight.Anyways, I think Ive solved it now! My 'internal' guttering idea worked!Got it finished last night and it rained overnight ,which highlighted a couple more small leaks. Now all sorted and internal roof panels now refitted.Took me a couple hours to clear the mess up that was left.(am I the only person wanting it to rain so I can test out all the other leaks? Grin)
 Thanx for the ideas guys.

Corrugated plastic - now there's a thought!

My shed needs re-roofing - actually it needs re-walling as well but that's another job!  But the windows are rather small and I was thinking putting bigger ones in for some more light - but plastic roofing would deal with that!

ca plastics are excellent, thats where my plastic sheets came from, just make sure its a big order and don't forget anything as carrier charges are  bit steep, also they only deliver when in your area as they do all deliverys themselves, i had to wait about three weeks.
cheers chris.
ps. they've a website where you can order everything.

Deliv from london to here (essex) was about £25. Even with this added they were a lot cheaper than my local Travis Perkins.

Everybody is cheaper than travis perkins  Angry also BG,I don't like windows in garages as it's an easy way in for toerags and there certainly won't be any in my new garage when I build it next year
