i`ve just picked up another reliant engine (i`m thinking ahead ), this one has a block between the carb and inlet manifold with a connector and very long pipe coming off it, presumably a vacuum for something? anyone know what is was for?

My day off -so there. Taz & I are just leaving to go look at her Charger. That looks distinctly home made to me TB. Don't recognise it at all. Looks almost like a bike inlet spacer. Maybe been used to provide a take-off for a vacuum gauge? The heated inlet manifold is missing & the carb's been turned to face outward rather than over the engine as normal, so presumably the motor's been played with.

Erm....sorry, the carb was me. I pulled it off to get a better look at that spacer block and just sat it on for the photo. I`m not too worried cos i`m gonna bin the block anyway, just curious as none of the reliants i`ve seen before had one. Edit: Kitten with a vac guage, didn`t know they used them, but then again, i`ve never seen one in the flesh! cheers mate

I nearly did the same to a mk2 cortina, luckily the fan blades caught the blanket first and i was alerted by the sound of the fan belt squeeling on the now motionless waterpump, ahh happy days

Saw a bright orange Kitten on my Postal round the other day -the Reliant species, not a ginger tom cat. Belongs to one of the local tech college kids I think. A much cooler first car than a cr*ppy little hatchback in my opinion! -for those not familiar with them, Kittens were the 4 wheeled version of the more common Reliant 3 wheelers & used the same engine/gearbox/back axle.

Normally comes off the carb itself.
