See those Bond Bug things,were they all Reliant powered ? reason i ask is,i saw one about 30ish years ago with a R.E Constellation engine in.

they started out with a reliant  700e engine and finished production as a 850cc super bug

Hillbilly, what you saw was probably a Berkley, a glassfibre bodied 4 wheeler, they fitted the big Enfield engine as standard, and also made a 3 wheeler, 2 wheels at front, using a 3 cylinder 2-stroke engine, from British Anzani I think, Morrag

What would you do about reverse?

I guess if it's bike engine you could use a Quaife reverse - if you had lots of pennies!
