Been thinking that I have to make leading link forks, also I need to fit a handbrake. Ive seen various trikes on fleabay(mini) and they have disc on the front and handbrake on the rear. Now the problem is this, the mini handbrake worked on the rear suframe not the front. Anyone know how to convert the front subframe running gear to take a hand brake, its fitted with drum brakes at present. Thanks guys Regards K

Where did that 13mm spanner go then?

Drat and double drat!
After getting a bit hot and bothered cos I couldn't operate the gear selector etc, I completely forgot to look at the handbrake! Sorry!

No worries Bobbi, I read your other posts and you have a lot on your plate at the mo. Good luck with it and as andy says if its all there with paperwork its a good starting point. Had to pay £200 for my auto engine and box, plus steel, welding etc. Still got wiring, lighting, handbrake, etc to do then the msva, so still going to cost a fair bit. Also thinking about starting over with the frame, or at least some major modifications so it would probably be cost effective for you to buy this one and make alterations. What ever you decide to do it will be the right thing and whatever you decide, don't spend time looking back look forward, life is too short. Regards K

Keith. You might have seen it before, but you could try a Honda CB200, or similar cable-operated disc. The cable could be pulled and locked with T handle handbrake. I had one on My Bedford Midi van, but I am sure there are other cars with them.

No worry. There are a couple of other small jap models that used them. I have the CB200 one here but it needs a new spring & operating cam. I priced the bits at David Silvers and they are about fifty quid.

A long time ago now, but I remember my CB200 having drums. Presumably the disc was a later model. Plenty of mountain bikes about with cable disc brakes now.

heres how i do a disc/handbrake on minis its quite easy. first of all you need the complete hub/disc assembly from an early metro its a straight swap now the handbrake i use cable operated calipers from racing go karts they operate very similar to push bike brakes but much more effective its then just a case of making carriers to fit. i think i might still have a carrier as a pattern bear with me while i look i still hav,nt sorted my stuff out from my move if i,ve got it you can have it!

Not sure about the years but I replaced a broken caliper on a Passat with one off a Golf - fitted perfectly and did the job but it wasn't the same caliper as I found out when I neede to replace the pads - had to get 2 sets!
