First run. Mr Conner was the test pilot for the first couple of runs with Chris going next. Not that I didn't want the maiden voyage but as a thank you for their help I let the chaps have a go first. We all wear different helmets, Nick (red) Chris (black) Kev (white). Everyone's run was a buttock clencher started of with 15psi in rear wheels and then 10psi. Result- all over the place just over half track. Rear wheels back up to 25psi and a bit more tow in at the front and out again, much better at half track back end not so twitchy but at the top of the track it pulls to the left( which is fun) Started of at 17s@87mph and ended up with 13.1s@106mph. Very happy with the performance so far but we are going to be remaking the hairpin mounts so we have even more adjustment as we are maxed out at the moment.
Should only take a couple of days as we have already decided on the design. So the build continues.....

Made a start on the modifications, had to make a cradle to support the frame as we have no jacking point at the front.

In the above picture you can see the toilet handle shifter which is still to be finished off. Will post more about that later.

Just needed to take some weight of the front end so the hairpin mounts can be removed

Going to be using this bit of angle, nice and chunky.

That's all for now have Dad's funeral tomorrow which will be tough and then get back into doing these changes as soon as possible as Nostalgia Nationals not far away and we intend on taking the Trabant racing next weekend.
Placed a car cover over the bellytank while its in the garage and could not help but to start thinking about a re-body maybe.......

Lost interest in the car, just could not be bothered at the moment. Mentioned to Nick and the others that I may not go to the Nostalgia Nationals next weekend.
Well, you could have heard a pin drop.
Group huddle, pep talk, decision made, we have 1 week to re-do the front end and go racing.
So this afternoon started on the mounts by marking out and drilling the 4 holes.

And then started trimming and shaping.

Slight difference in this version with the shock mount being moved.

And Mr Conner had a little play with one of his favourite tools.

A 5 degree wedge to go under the spring, still needs holes drilled in it yet.
Finish them off tomorrow afternoon and them give to Tom for powder coating and we should be able to reassemble and align over the weekend hopefully and then final prep and load up next Thursday.

Build a race car they said, it will be fun they said.

Grin Looking forward to seeing it on the track next weekend.
I've got 7 degrees in the spring perch on my Pop, for normal road use.

There's a full feature on it in the new, (December '17), issue of Custom Car magazine.
