The battery is receiving a charge now. The rear brakes are plumbed in although one side seems to be binding, this will give me something to do after work whilst the rear wheels are away for painting. Also whilst browsing through Ebay this morning I found a hazard warning kit for £18 delivered and figured by the time I'd spend £5 on a can £2 on a switch £3 or £4 on cable connectors heat shrink and diodes This seemed like a bargain for the time it would save.

Bit of a disaster today,I thought I could get away with welding a new tap plate to the bottom of the tank with out destroying the paint. Well I only burned the the bottom of the tank and thought it would be easily patched up,alas the new paint reacted with the petrol resistant lacquer and one side of the tank looks like a welders bench,oh well out with the rattly cans again On the plus side the hazard kit from Ebay was a doddle to fit and now the wiring is very almost done just a little tidying up to do and this evening I slapped on an old Honda cg tank and we went for a little ride around the yard where the garages are

Ouch! Stuff like that can be a real enthusiasm killer, sounds like you are on top of it though. Have you a link for the hazard kit, that seemed an easy mod?

Re-painted the fuel tank and I think I've freed up the sticky rear brake. Tomorrow we'll have the tank fitted and hopefully some fuel in it. She is running but sometime she feels like your trying to pull away in 3rd or 4th. I might even have to resort to opening the Haynes book of lies.

Having resorted to the Haynes book of lies I've found out that my engine is running the wrong carbs. The book says 1 1/2 turns out for the mixture screw, the right hand side was out 2 turns and the left out 1. That corrected now she seems a little hesitant to start and when she does she refuses to come off of the choke. They are going to be stripped and cleaned then we'll see if they are any better.

Fitted the suicide shift tonight and stood about for a bit wondering what I could do but couldn't think of any thing. We,re having a little trip to an MOT station tomorrow to get the bit of paper with the VIN no on it stamped. As soon as the carbs are cleaned and re built I think (dare I say it) I can book the MSVA

Still having bother with running. After cleaning out the carbs setting the points and setting the mixture she will now run off of the choke and ride off of the choke, but it seems to constantly back firing when ticking over. If I whip the left plug off while the engine is running it stops popping, but if I whip the right one off she runs like a bag a spanners. Ordered a new set of points and a couple of new condensers when they arrive we'll see how it goes.

I have no idea what I have done but I appear to have stopped the popping by fiddling with the carbs apparently at random. just a bracket to make for the choke lever then,in a couple of weeks we can book the msva I must admit to getting a little bit giddy now

Yep, that'll happen if you set up the carbs with the garage doors closed
