Assuming your going to leave the suspension in the same position moving the rack by 8 in is probably going to be very difficult to achieve and retain the correct / acceptable angles for the steering input, as spanners said, probably easier to lose a couple of inches off the sump (if that’s the problem) and move the engine / trans 6 in.

youde loose a lot of ,lock, and make it feel very vague, and unresponsive,++++ how are you safely going extend steering arms they take a hell of alot more load/stress than you realise

the longer the steering arm,, the more movement needed from the rack.. ( i used to build ,BRISCA,, stock cars )

o nice man, used to go watch that and coventry speed way as a kid.
so if i did make the steering arms long it would take me more turns on the steering wheel to get from lock to lock yeah??

in theory,, yes,, but,,youlle only get a limited movement out of a steering rack,, so you wont get enough turns to give you the same amount of lock as you have with the original steering arms..

Wouldn't it be easier to modify the sump on the engine for the clearance you need?

Shortened Reliant Scimitar chassis with 4 door Moggy Minor bodyshell Kev. I don't think there's enough room to move the motor further forward or higher.
