last august or september we sent out 38 parts packages in the one day. to various parts of the uk. 11 of them never got there.

last monday we sent out over 40 so far 14 have not arrived.

from what i gather the stuff going to england scotland etc travells from here to shrewsbury sorting office. so it must be dissapearing between here and there as after shrewsbury it's split up.

usual cover our asses reply from the royal mail. "we have had no other complaints about parts on that route"

"you are sure you shipped them?"  of course i'm f*****g sure!! do you think i would not notice 40 boxes if they were still here.

ok theres compo, but filling in them forms is a bloody drag. and they are worded to obviously assume you are trying to rip them off.

Use a different carrier?

When my other half drove for Parcelforce for a while, after having worked for Omega and another company I've forgotten, he was amazed at Parcelforce tracking system - they didn't have one!

Most of the others, you can track your own parcel and see exactly where it is!

We keep coming back to this don't we -usually when Dracken loses a parcel. Royal Mail will employ just about anyone -we've had guys arrive from temp' agencies who can't even read English & they're expected to sort the mail. Security checks seem to be virtually non-existant & there's definitely a culture among the staff, particularly the younger ones, of doing as little work as they can possibly get away with.
It's not always our fault when things go missing though. We had the Police in our sorting office last week, arresting someone. Several of the bigger companies in Basingstoke have their own mail rooms & send a member of staff to the depot to collect their mail each morning. They're allowed to wander in & pick up their sacks of mail from the sorting area unchecked & wander out again. A guy from a local publishing company was caught picking up a sack of returned rental DVDs & computer games destined for "Game"'s Basingstoke depot, hiding it under the sack of mail for his own company & walking out with it. Amazingly he was caught the previous week doing the same thing -said it was accidental & they let him off. He was stupid enough to try it again. I've heard the Police let him off with a caution.

please do not take it personally if you work for the royal mail.

i expect the odd delivery to go missing. but 14 in one go is a bit much. it's the hassle with the compensation that gets me.

but part of the blame must go to the customers also

the 14 packages all contained one or two of these.

not all posties are created equal

led n.o. plate lights
but because they are cheap no one wants to pay more than standard 1st class large letter shipping for them.

someone has a glut of no.plate lights Grin
