Bench Polisher

Recently converted one side of the bench grinder to take a polishing mop. Works great, only problem was the muck it throws off. Looking on the net, I found guards but they were £44 each ! A bit of lateral (read, tight fisted) thinking and a guard is made. Plastic flower pot cut to size. Time- 15 min. Cost- nowt.
Finish on stainless is amazing and near mirror with very little effort. The manifold guard was hand beaten to shape and therefore fairly scratched and dull.

So far all I have is a Policraft 150mm 2 section, Grade G, stitched mop and a bar of Canning Lippert blue. This seems fine for hard material like stainless. I intend to get a looseleaf mop for softer materials and some different polishing compounds. Any suggestions?
Luckily we have an Axminster tool centre near us and prices seem to be pretty good for the large, industrial sized bars. Didn't seem a lot of point in getting the small bars also the mops look better quality than those generally on ebay.

So did you get the tapered spindle adaptor from Axminster as well, or did you use something else? This has prompted me to dig out my bench grinder!

Yep. Mop, spindle adaptor and polish, less than £27. You will have to source your own flower pot

This will give you some idea as to what soap you need for various metals.
