We have an MOT station that's known for doing bikes and trikes but it's about 9 miles away so I thought I'd find out if there are any more in the area, and it turns out there is one just round the corner!  - Well that's to say that VOSA told me this place does Class 3 and I understand that if they do Class 3 that includes trikes whether they've done them before or not, they can't say "We don't do trikes".

Which is where the dilemma comes in, as I haven't heard of them doing trikes - on the other hand, I don't really know any trikers in this area strangely!

So do I book in there and give it a go?  It's so much more convenient.  Or should I bite the bullet and give up half a day (with the traffic and the waiting, that's what it will be) and go to the usual place in Poole?

Opinions please!

Never know if I don't try I guess.

But I really don't want a a fail cos  mmm  hhmmm mumble mumble.. don't want to say on a public forum!    Wink

Stick with the place you know, and accept the time penalty, as I can guess at the reasons for your concern with the "unknown quantity" station!! thats what I would do anyway.......TTFN, Morrag

wouldnt worry about a 9 mile trip, just make sure your appointment is booked in, then your covered if you get a pull

I have about 60 mile round trip to MOT LOL

while a MOT centre cant refuse to test, I would be a little wary that if they never done one before, will they be over cautious? or particularly with testing of reliants, they micht not know what they are looking at Smiley

I have had to stand my ground in the past with regards to bike and trike MOT's luckily I pretty much know the books back to front, so know what I need and dont need, has now resulted in my MOT tester for the chops, just looking at me and asking if its going to pass LOL

I hear what you all say and my instinct too is to with the place I know.  Maybe I'll have a word with the other place afterwards and find out if they do trikes often.

BTW skiprat, mine's a Kwak GT550 not one of they 'ol Reliant jobs!   Wink

I always go to the same place. It saves time in the end as you know them and they know your trike  Wink

True, and it's booked in for Monday.  Can't see any reason why it wouldn't pass, even the handbrake is working!  But I feel uncomfortable being optimistic.........
