Calstock bike show/regatta on 4th 5th & 6th August at Calstock Green, Calstock, Cornwall (20 mins ride from Tamar Bridge) Tickets £15 per head (purchased at the gate on arrival only). Camping included in the fee - Live rock bands, food, beer, washing/toilet facilities. (NO FOUR WHEEL VEHICLES ALLOWED ON THE GREEN/CAMP SITE)
A bike show and regatta! How odd, I hear you cry!
Well it's different, but definitely not odd!
It's a rowing regatta on the river at Calstock which is a tiny village just inside Cornwall, not far from Tavistock. The camping is on a level field beside the river, with a wonderful view of the Calstock Viaduct.
There are several varieties of music, a couple of pubs and the village club within crawling distance, and splendid fireworks on the Sat night - last time I went we sat on the deck over the river, in front of the pubv, with our beer, to watch the fireworks.
All sorts of bikes turned up for the bike show on the Sat afternoon.
And the Honeycomb ice-cream was lovely!
I'll be there for sure.
