This is Ian Hutchinson, who in 2010 became the only man to win 5 TTs in one week - an amazing achievement. Towards the end of the season he suffered a horrible crash at Silverstone and nearly lost the lower part of his leg. He did have, and I guess may still have, a set of scaffolding going into his leg to help it heal properly (see the modified leathers), but, some how, he's at Goodwood and riding..... what a star

Friday 1st July, the first day the competitors take to the hill, so a couple of 'action' piccies in amongst the general shots. So how many horsepower should a motorcycle have.. well these guys reckon 420 sounds about right - its the MTT Streetfighter Turbine. The turbine comes from a helicopter. (reckon the pilot might be a bit pi**ed off  ) I`ve actually seen one of these turbine bikes in action. There`s a company in the states that make them. Very weird, but extremely impressive and everyday useable believe it or not. I expected it to be all out grunt but it is versatile.

Single seater race car, who knows the power plant?
Pre X flow Ford at a guess. Beleive it or not, DAF Variomatic............. Right mr Oily Tony Bike  I thought I was right, just from the photo, The power plant is a Ford pre crossflow 997 screamer. The original block would have been found in an anglia and the heads were modified by blocking off the inlets in the normal place and boring down above the inlet valve (to give a straight inlet port) and using one choke of a twin choke, in this case downdraft Weber...................

Nice chop Normally these Cosworths would drive a performance/race car, this drives the compressor for Bloodhounds jet/rocket engine!!!!

This called a Dymaxion. Made in 1933 this three wheeler was powered by a Ford flathead V8 of the same period, driving through the front wheels.............

Here we have one with a four cylinder Offenhauser with a turbo.........
and the Hurst supported car with an injected normally aspirated Offy

This was a real surpise. The last time I saw this car was in the late 80's, when it had been restored by an aquaintence of mine called David Bruzas, in Woking. I managed to persuade him I really needed to sit in to see how it fitted. This was Juan Fangio's 1958 Indy car
