Mainly a question to voodoo or clive.Ime a long way off preping for paint yet but heres my question. Ime thinking of having my frame powder coated gloss black. I was thinking of doing the tank,wheels and mud guards in a deep red or burnt orange colour,but in a satin finish. Does such a finish need to have some type of sealer coat on it,so it doesnt get rain marked or stained in any way?

I'm no expert at all on clearcoats I'm afraid buddy!
If you just want one colour, and all the bits are metal, I'd refer you to MM's reply to the other post, and get them powdercoated, hardwearing and they can adjust the amount of gloss in the finish! The firm I use close to me are top for it! Not sure where you are though buddy!

Hiya,sorry a bit slow replying....there is a range of paints designed for old skoll and Hot rodders in mind that are all a satin finish and they also have the matching Lacquer to go with it...I will dig out the link to the stuff for you over the weekend.....
I agree with the others on the powder coating for the frame, its a good hard wearing finish that wont cost you a fortune...Voodoo...

I reckon you should paint it Victorian engineering green like this, then have loads of big brass rivets air brushed on & add lots of brass gauges & pipes, even if they're not connected to anything.

You can get your paint shop to add flattening agent to any paint or clearcoat to get it anywhere from shiny, to satin, to completely matte.
