"Well, we failed !"

Brocks quote on Black Pig Too making its debut at this event.

Sitting  in the pub after a couple of beers to drown our sorrows at not making it with the car and we decided what the hell lets take a couple of days out, so Saturday morning the van was loaded with sleeping bag and air bed and off we went, full of the joys of spring at actually going racing even if it was minus the car.
An hour into the journey and with nothing else to do but think about the if only we had one more day or if we had done it this way round or if that hadn't happened(to many ifs for my liking) and we had managed to throw each other into a massive depression.when we arrived at the track it just got worse, the first 2 hours was spent with everyone asking the same question (where's the car).

On a brighter note we were able to spend the time as spectators and armed with the camera off we went for a looksy at what was around, some very nice stuff out there and it wasn't long before the conversation took on its usual thread.
Do you like that, how about this, I could build you one of those. (Thanks Brock but lets finish a couple of the other projects first). Then I'll have a 55 Chevy please.

Mrs B

P.S Disc full of photo's winging their way to you tomorrow Mr Manky.

Yep, a good couple of days in the sun with a bunch of mates, a respectable turnout of racing stuff and some really nice cars and bikes just hanging around, marred only by fellow Club member Helen taking a half track ride on her side. On the up side she walked away with only a girlie little bruise to show for her adventure, unfortunatly the car was a little worse off but did it's job outstandingly well. A real shame as they had just returned after a two year rebuild and were hunting their first eight. Their previous run had been a nine oh one and the last run looked quicker away, then it fell over !

hmmm, not a lot of point now, were you following me round ? the shot of Welsh Paul's maroon Viva is uncannily close although I believe I may have a more interesting shot of the big Diamond T diner truck

Grin Just received your pics in the post so will get them online soon -ish. We've got a bit of a backlog of webby stuff to do at the moment so bear with us if you've sent stuff in please.
Steve, we always print any contributions we receive -eventually. Everyone has different tastes & a different eye for a nice shot, so even when there's half a dozen Monkeys at the same show, we end up with 6 different views. Could do with some words to accompany the pics though -I love going to the races, but I'm strictly a spectator. Just love the noise & the adrenalin & the atmosphere. Haven't got a clue what's going on most of the time, so a few paragraphs from someone what knows would be interesting.
Haven't opened your package yet, but thanks for sending it.  Wink

A couple of my snaps. The racing was quite slow this weekend -not slow, acceleration wise, just lots of down time on the track & a general feeling of lethargy around the pits. Not as frenetic as usual. Maybe it was just too damn hot for everyone. Some lovely machinery about though.

Some nice shots there guys. Lots of cars I didn't see. Is that new sky blue body on the Destiny dragster based on a Pop shell?

Sid sent me some preview shots when he got the body, it looked to be a Legend, sort of small scale stock car thing beloved of stunt riders/drivers when fitted with ludicrously powerfull bike engines. He has done a load of work to get it like that.
