just off the coast of barrow in furness lies peel an island with sod all but 6 old custom houses a ruined castle and a pub with a bunk house well worth a visit if your ever in the lakes the hotel on roe island will even look after your bikes for you if you arange it with the landlord of the pub

the landlord is an autonomous king by the way and has the power to knight you(but only does it to someone who has performed a great service to the island) theyre a wierd bunch  on the island the king the queen and the princess of peel are its only regular inhabitants if you go to stay do it in the summer as its a bitch to get off in the winter a slight swell and the ferry stops.....

by the way i think they see the film the wickerman as a documentery rather than make believe Grin

you have been warned..........the ferry runs every hour in he summer months9-5

Just read a piece on Peel Island in one of Flap's Landy magazines. Looks nice.

dont let that fool you... its great when you can get off it but being stuck on there in a storm with only pie and peas to eat and very dire beer to drink isnt fun Tongue Cheesy
