Maybe it ought to be SVA'd as a new vehicle but where do you draw the line between restoration & new build? We're replacing like for like, old panels for identical new panels. It's still a 1969 car as far as we're concerned but 90% of the body panels will be brand new. The rest will be from half a dozen different donor cars, plus a little bit of the original.

That reminds me of when on Only Fools And Horses, Trigger said "I have had this broom for years!.......It's only had 4 new heads and 3 new handles"

Still, I'd say that it shouldn't be SVA'd because it has the origional chassis and chassis number, just because the rest of it is new or replacement, that's just cosmetic to ensure that it is road worthy and leagal and MOT passable! plus the added fact that if you did SVA it as a new vehicle it would be a 2009/2010 charger and not a 1969.

Thats my 2p's worth any way.

John's just invested a very large chunk of cash in a new toy -a long reach spot welder. That allows them to reach over the rear chassis legs to spot weld the new trunk floor in place. Ours is the first car they've tried it on. Previously they could only spot weld the outside edges of the panels & had to MIG weld the rest. Works just fine & means they can fit large panels in the same way they were at the factory.

Whats a trunk? i`m gettin worried that your going all yank on us  Grin

Tongue When we email the guys in the States to order parts they don't understand us unless we talk in Americanese. Id've thought "Bonnet", "Wing" & "Boot" would be obvious enough, but apparently not. In the end Taz had to go find the online catalogue they were ordering their supplies from & give them the order numbers for each part.

Had an email from Gail at Jack's Auto Parts in New Joisey, (we're on first name terms now, swapped holiday pics etc!). Taz's latest shipment of panels has been in their shop, waiting on the shipping costs to be worked out, for a week or so. Sorted now, money wired over to them & cleared by their bank. So the big box o' bits will be on it's way in the morning. That should, (hopefully), be all the bits the guys at JC's need to get on & finish the body rebuild.
