Ha! Not even close mate. We paid 6 grand for the car originally. Having got it home & discovered it was 2 1/2" longer one side than the other, we spent a year trying every repair shop we could find, from specialist vintage car places, to commercial vehicle crash repair blokes, looking for someone willing to straighten the chassis out. In the end we went to JC Restorations, who happen to be just 10 miles down the road from us. Very friendly, very knowedgable, very talented -very expensive. Because we live so close to their workshop, we used to just drop in unannounced. Turned up one day just in time to watch them straighten the chassis legs, using a hydraulic winch with the car bolted down to a jig. Once they were happy everything was straight & true it took literally seconds to pull it into line. Tweak -that'll be 3 1/2 thousand pounds please, (no, I'm not joking). We had to import all the body panels from the States, but despite telling them we wanted to buy an entire car's worth of parts, none of the big American suppliers were interested in shipping abroad. Seems the Yanks are convinced civilisation ends at their shores & the rest of the World's not worth bothering with. In the end we found a little business called Jack's Autos in New Jersey, who were willing to order parts from across America for us, then ship them over. We organised 5 or 6 shipments, at a couple of grand's worth each time. Every single panel, even the roof, has been replaced. The bulkhead, (the bit between engine bay & interior), came from a scrap Charger in Belgium. At the moment, Taz's car's just a grey primered, empty bodyshell on wheels, but I could've bought a small house in the Midlands for what it's cost -no, we're not rich -I sold my flat to move in with Taz. Every penny of the profit from that's in her car. It is bigger than my flat though!

It was damaged long before Tim got hold of it Mike. The K member, ("front clip" in the language of the Yanks), which holds the front suspension & steering components, was bent. It's a huge chunk of box section steel. Someone redrilled it to mount it straight, (ish), under the car & it's been taxed fairly recently, so presumably it's been driven like that. This is it when Tim owned it.

Poprodder, V8, 350 cui, stock Skylark fitment. And Spanners, I have got it now but it's my Arizona car. It's a solid, rust-free car, so no way am I shipping it back here so it can start rotting at the docks. Plus I can afford to run it out there which I can here. And WHO do you think the female is...
