Go for it vb, looking forward to seeing this come together, its not that bad once you get started, remember its easier to put more of a bend on than it is to take it off

Or well a 16 tonne bender wont do the job cant get to 40deg before tube flattens out leave alone a 90deg,still at least it wasnt the tube ive paid for "thanks to TBone" the tube was 45mm od 3mm wall so no hope for the 4mm wall stuff i got, wondering if a staffa will handle it only option i can think of atm but @65 notes a week rental, dont want it if it ont do the job or well as i say, Dai's on the job again

hmm but it is bending so.... have you tried bending with the rollers at the widest position? is the pipe snug in the former? have you tried different size former?

How about doing it the old fashioned way -tightly pack the tube with sand & tack weld a plate on either end before bending.

i heard wet sand was now the way to go on that one? only other suggestion i have is a blow torch n heat it first, but at 4mm i think you`ll need gas bottles

just a thought but.... do your mock up in the bs pipe anyway. carry on as if it was the real thing n dont worry if/wen it flattens. When your happy with the angles you have, ring round and see if you can find an engineering works that will bend your CDS to your templates. Gotta be cheaper than hiring/ buying another bender? And its still gonna be your design/work. Nothin wrong in farming the tricky bits out to someone else.

i just had two more thoughts (thats the most i had all week). 1st. slippage. is the pipe turning in the die? 2nd. can you streth the angle over a longer length? pump the handle till just before it flattens, side the pipe along 2" pump again, repeat repeat repeat until you have the desired angle

more s**t news im afraid ...took 1 length to "trefab" they make alot of metal things and have staffa/industrial benders they tried bending my cds stuff with heat and thats flattened out as well so to say im feeling p***ed is an understatement as i know have nearly £300 worth of tube that wont bend properly so much for buying cds stuff im at a loss what to do.... on top of which ive had final conformation via post that the blindness i have in the rht eye is present in my left eye..so quite frankly i cant see a point in doing any thing now..........
