Just had an email to say that my application for a 'Blue Badge' (disabled parking) has been approved!  I can't really believe that something is going right for once!

My cheque will prolly get lost in the post!  (no offence intended!)

Congratulations Bobbi.
Do you have to pay for blue badges then?

Oh yes!  £2 for the badge and £1 each for the stickers.

Last night in the paper it said that some supermarkets are hiring wardens to slap parking tickets on Non blue badge bods parking in the disabled parking slots and mother & child areas. I think if it works it's good news as it annoys me seeing able boddied people just too idle to walk.  Angry
My step father is classed as 60% disabled, (not that you can tell). He walks, cycles, (from Southampton to Wales), and does most things that normal people can do and he refuses to have a badge as he feels there are more people out there who are much worse off than him that need the space, (much to my mums annoyance).

Sorry to rant.

Ticketed for parking in the parent and child spaces..... Shocked Angry

Bit of a bugbear of mine.
The biggest reason these spaces exist is because families are considered to spend more than people without kids. And round here a lot of these parent/brat bays are closer to the shop than the disabled bays.

Rant over,
thank you.

But well done BG, now you can cross the servern bridge for free Grin

I cross for free anyway cos they regard a trike as a bike!

The real need for the parking badge is so that one can park near where you need to be, I sometimes find myself coming home from town without what I went for, cos I can't park near enough.

I'm always a bit wary of condemning people for parking in disabled spaces as I know people who don't look in the least disabled, but actually have real problems.  Quite simple things can become a major problem - for instance in some car parks the ordinary spaces are very narrow, and even a knee that doesn't bend as much as it should can make it impossible to get out of the car!  So now I won't have to always look for a space next to a pillar.

I still don't put my badge on the trike coz there's nowhere to put it and eve when I put my magnetic copy on i still get complaints, mainly from the manager of Asda who has seen the badge 3 times, seems he has the memory of a goldfish.

DLA next Bobbi free car tax and extra income to boot.

I tried for DLA some time ago but didn't get anywhere with it.  I may try again later on when I've got some other more urgent problems sorted.

I saw something advertised somewhere for that very purpose!

Edit - this wasn't it cos the one I was looking at was £38 and I thought that was expensive - this one is £50!  http://www.thedma.org.uk/badge.htm
