I hope not. Look fine. James, the guy we dealt with, passes them to his mate to actually cut & weld. A tidy job. They do a lot for stock car racers, so if they can take the pounding they get, they should be fine for a Reliant. He says he's checked with his local Police & DVLA & neither have a problem with banded wheels, but obviously, you should inform your insurance company about any non standard parts fitted.

good question...alot depends on wether the manufacturer states the banded rim will take tubeless, id rather run tubes in them just in case

They reckon they'll be O.K tubeless. You can buy a sealant to paint over the inside but James said he had his own mark 2 Escort rims banded 11 months ago & just had them blasted & powder-coated & they've been fine. I'd fit tubes as a back up though if we can get them.

Tubeless rims have a deeper dish in order for the tyre to be fitted, this is so the tyre beed has a harder job to jump up to the edge of the rim, caravaners have problems with the tyre's running the rims when they use at a low pressure, and often the wheels are of the small dish type.

We run our rear tyres at around 15 psi. Any more & the back end gets too skittery.
