well I moved the Pop into its new home today, I'm out of the tractor shed and into a covered area  rents gone up by a tenner a week but it means I don't have to cover her up everytime I go home.
Working out how to mount the engine and gearbox tonight, got to beat the Mankies

purchased the metal to fab the gearbox crossmember last week, 3ft of thickwall box, 2ft angle, several off cuts of 6mm plate and it all cost me a massive £5.00  so up the barn today to start fabbing yippeeee  gonna take the camera this time so that I can get some more progress photo's.

p.s. notice the name change on the thread? found out that my '58 "Pop" is actually a 40's Anglia despite what the V5 said so I'm building an Anglia pickup

Mine's an Anglia too -a '53, but whenever I tell people that, they think it's the notch backed Harry Potter flying car type, so I stick with "Pop" cos it's easier!
Fabrication at last -that's the fun bit!

My first car was an Anglia - if talking about it I always describe it as 'the old black sit-up-and-beg Ford Anglia' so people know what I mean.  Yopu do realise it's much more exclusive to have the Anglia as it was the posh export version?  That's what I was told anyway, dunno what the differences are.

Mine's got side air vents -"crotch coolers" as someone called 'em, & a seperate Bakelite dashboard instead of the integral steel one, although I'm using a Bakelite Ford Prefect one. There's several different radiator grilles too, but not sure which belong to which models. Mine's got the most common version with 2 vertical slots.

Spent 4 hours in the barn yesterday fabbing the gearbox cross member and engine mounts, the engine and box are now fitted. Popped (get it ) cab back on the chassis to have a look at channeling it over the chassis, think I'm going to go for 4 inches. So with the current ride height being almost standard (slightly smaller tyres) she measures 63 inches to the top of the roof, when she is channeled it should take it down to around 59.
I'm also going to fit the front axle on a suicide perch out front and that should drop her another couple of inches so I'm looking at around 56/57 inches to roof top, not far off yours Manky

Cool! So with the same roofchop as mine, but the body chanelled as well, which effectively raises the floor level inside the cab, you're gonna have your head squashed against the roof!
How did you manage to lift the cab on your own?

I don't think the space in the cab is much smaller than Hayley's car, gonna fit the seats on the floor so it will be a bit like my old Triumph Spitfires driving position, still gonna be a bugger trying to see those traffic lights still I can see it now...... Officer_-- why didn't you stop at the red light sir, Me-- I didn't see it osiffer,  Officer-- why, are you blind sir?, Me-- no I'm not, but all I can see is the bonnet
Had a mate round to give me a hand and we lifted the cab back on together.
Looks like I may be getting some parts from the states at a really good rates, can't tell you what yet but they is going to be well cool

My body's still too wibbly wobbly to lift, & so's the car.
Appropriate that we're both Posties as we're gonna be driving cars with letter box sized windscreens. 
Stateside stuff? You been on Ebay again? My guess is wheels.
