Teetering on the edge of insanity

« on: August 30, 2021, 04:59:19 PM »

Well its that time of the year again, the dreaded MOT, for the very first time Patience has actually not got an MOT it ran out last Friday whilst I was on holiday.
I have booked her in for next Saturday morning.

I went out to start her earlier and the battery was flat, strange as she is on an Optimate, seems that the charger has given up the ghost and taken the battery with it, new battery has been installed charger will not charge it so had to order a new charger/battery maintainer.

Done less that 300 miles since the last MOT, mainly due to being too knackered after work to ride.

Wish her luck next Saturday, my MOT man is doing me a favor opening on Saturday just to do her test, I feel honored in a way.

Good luck with the MOT.
Automatic/trickle chargers are great when they are working but can destroy a battery when they go wrong. My previous one boiled a 6v battery and yes it was set at the correct voltage so now I never leave  the new one connected longer than needed.

To be be fair the charger was 14 years old and the battery is 5 years old so I think I've had my moneys worth from them both.
