Hi Everyone

Hope you are all okay. Chevy Rick keeps me pretty much updated but as with regards to most events, there hasn't really been much going on until more recently so I expect it has been pretty quiet. I expect most of us have been double dosed now and are getting back into the swing of things. Brave new world.  Roll Eyes

I recently wrote off my car and the only way I could feasibly get another one was to go down the Motability route. I have always been eligible but last time I preferred to buy a 6 month old car. 11 years later that car was worth sweet FA to the insurers. After first being told at loads of showrooms that I wouldn't be able to get a new car for 16-18 weeks because of Covid, Brexit, lack of silicon chips etc I am now leasing a Kia Soul EV First Edition. It's loaded with fancy stuff and does about 280 miles on a full charge. My only problem now is waiting for the actual installation of a charger. Not as straightforward as I was told it would be. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see how I adapt to electric. I must say it is nippy and nothing like I expected an electric car to be. The acceleration is impressive and that was just in normal mode. I put it in sports mode once  Shocked  but I felt I wasn't ready for it but it should be fun once I get used to the car.  Grin  At least leasing it I don't have to worry about resale etc or long term problems, and in the short term, Motability sort any problems. Just need the charging point!

Anyone else made the plunge into electric motoring yet? If so, I would be interested to hear about it.

Also got some questions on welding but I'll put them in a separate post.

Hi JJ,

There's a show coming up on 3rd, 4th & 5th September at Farnborough that may be of interest re electric vehicles.

Hi Tony
That's a beauty, whatever fuels her.

Thanks for the information about the show. Hope they'll have plenty of charging points otherwise you could imagine loads of EVs stuck there afterwards!

I hear new electric vehicle drivers worry about range all the while. I can understand that. BP Pulse who are supposed to be fitting my charger say to use their points until I have a home one but you look on their app for around by me and it's empty. Their nearest charger is about 6 miles away. At least the local Tesco have ones you can use for free.  Smiley
