Having part exed my kawasaki for the vmax trike last year, and the insurance renewal (Bikeshure) coming up, it was time today to ask for a transfer. Usual questions, reg no "doesn't come up sir", make, model, ccs etc.
"Year of manufacture?"  - "doesn't say"
"It must" - "no it doesn't, it does have date of 1st registration"

Long period on hold.......

"Ok, make and model" - "vmx 1200"
"So it's a Yamaha vmax?" - "yes, a trike"
"Ah, Ok, how much did you pay for it?" - "well it depends how you calculate it, I part exed my Kawasaki, plus the extra I paid"
"And what's it's value sir.?" - the answer was what I paid for it plus £750 for an engine rebuild.

Cue a long discussion about how that could be entered ito the computer - it couldn't, so after another long discussion, including "the engine must be in the vehicle on the day the insurance commences"  and a period on hold we left it at what I paid for it.

Next,

"Why has it a q registration sir?" - "I have no real answer, other than it may have had an msva"
"It must say on the v5 sir" - No, it does not
Another long period on hold....

"You can find out on the dvla website sir" - "Ok, please hold"..... "No, it does not say why"
"We must have a reason for the q plate sir" - "well lets just say it had an mava then?" (It might explain why its a vmx, not a vmax)
"No sir you can't use that unless you know it to be certain" - "(starting to get irate now) What difference does it make why, so long as it's insured?"
"We have to have the reason sir"  - "Oh there we are then, cancel my insurance, Had enough of this........"

So cue a session on the dvla website, form v888 which may just tell me nothing, and up to 4 weeks for an answer. I could spit!
