But she was wearing the latest "designer" race wear. White kid leather flying helmet with A.M. MK2 goggles. What more could a lady racer need.

... and the fag in her mouth, probably dropping ash on her nice knitting. In the 1920s and 1930s, the tobacco industry really pushed smoking as a cool thing for women to do. This advert is from the same year as your pic Andy.

Yes, maybe they didn't read that out loud when they wrote it or maybe they were actually playing on the innuendo.  Shocked  I wonder how successful their sales were?

Even as loose as they are with advertising today, I don't think they could run a similar add.

They also really pushed it as a way to lose weight. One minute you are Mr Blobby, the next after smoking of course, you are a buff Olympian hurdler. Maybe all those size 6 models have found smoking helps after all, as you often see them smoking in candid shots.

Ah the good old days of un PC adverts. When Manikin Cigar adverts were a joy to watch, Consulate menthol cigarettes were as cool as a mountain p*sspot and certain beautiful girls only ate the crumblest, flakest Chocolate that tasted like Chocolate never tasted before.

In our local Dingles there was once an advert "nothing sucks like an Electrolux" I scrawled underneath "you dont know Sharon"  Cheesy I got caught and fined 10 bob for defacing a shop front. No I didn't know anyone called Sharon.
