Ages away at the moment, but the Brooklands Bulletin landed on the mat today so I thought I'd stick the VSCC (Vintage Sports Car Club) driving tests event in the calendar..........

Nitro doesn't add power, it multiplies it! Bob Loux, running 10.07 secs @138mph on a 650 normally aspirated Triumph drag bike in 1965!

T'was a cold old day at Brookands, esp when the wind blew, but the VSCC brigade made it along in good numbers (tho I reckon having heater in the cars would have been welcome for the journey there and home!).

Here's a selection of photos.

One of the tests, this is on part of the famous banking. For those that don't know, this was the world's first purpose built race track and dates from 1907.

The glorious Napier Lion on display. The Brooklands team said it would be fired up later in the day, so decided to pop back later on the see & hear the broad-arrow Y 16, 24 litre burble into life. (Y format of cylinders - 3 banks of 4)
This machine holds the outright track record when it was owned and driven by John Cobb.

Inside for a bit of warmth, and this is the Wellington that was salvaged from Loch Ness back in 1985.

Brooklands, in its day, manufactured a variety of mechanical goodies, and many of the buildings reflect some of the stuff that went on.
