Teetering on the edge of insanity

« on: May 10, 2014, 11:15:56 AM »

I've not been very active on here so i thought it was time to update the progress of the Tot rod that I started building for my daughter last year.

Still in the first build stage at the moment but coming along nicely.

Major time was spent building a steering rack for it using a C50 timing chain and a sprocket that happened to be lying around.

Yeah, I'm curious about the steering linkage now. Cool bonnet badge!
You realise young Scarlett will have outgrown it by the time it's finished?!

I will try to draw it out but basically you weld a chain onto a round or square bar with balljoints on either end, mount a sprocket above or below the chain making sure it's meshed correctly, house it and mount it.

Any questions?

that's clever. Whatever happened to go carts with a bit of string to steer with!

The trouble is that you can't get the right grade of string these days. And its far to complex to fit.
