Decided to post some pictures of my new Beetle project. Here it is as delivered today, 26/11/13. On first quick inspection it appears to need very little welding.

The roof is there with a slight tear in it on one corner and the beading is cracked in places otherwise it's fine. I may have it repaired or just replace the lot, depends on cost of course as I'm a tight sod and on incapacity too. The engine does run, or so I'm told and that is the first thing I'll be checking hopefully later today.

Grin Ask Lunatic about welding Beetles -he's worked on more than his fair share of them. The rot starts in the heater channels & works it's way up from there apparently. "Very little welding needed" usually ends up as a full rebuild. Good luck!  Smiley

Take care! We had a beetle, the exhaust went through a heat exchanger and the hot air is sent via the cills into the cabin. Cath came home one day reeking of exhaust, giddy and bright pink! Carbon monoxide poisoning due to a leak between the two sides of the system! Took her days to recover, could have been a lot worse! ( CO binds with haemoglobin at the same site as oxygen, but will not release,so the bloods oxygen carrying capacity decreases)
