Around 600 pre 1931 motorcycles are expected to be entered for the VMCC's annual Banbury Run.
Quite a sight!

This is a very well established event, in fact, this year is it's 66th running, and is advertised as the "the largest gathering of veteran and vintage machines in the world".

The 2014 programme shows 550 machines entered, ranging from 1904 to 1930, so the youngest bike is a mere 84 years old! (and you thought your machine was getting on a bit!!)

The sun shone, and around 550 old motorcycles assembled for the 66th Banbury Run, starting at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, Warickshire.

Here's a shot of the assemble area to give an idea of what its like.

The riders are called up in number order and set off in small batches. There are an option of navigation routes to take, the longest being around 60 - 70 miles (assuming you don't get lost!).

"Veterans" (pre 1915 machines) have a gentle 30+ mile route. (some of these bikes are single-speed belt-drive total-loss with stirrup brakes, so the ride can be a bit of a challenge......)
"Early Vintage" (1915 - 1924) have a 50+ mile route.
"Late Vintage" (1925 - 1930) have a 60+ mile route

Never done this event, but always think I should after your photos & informed comments Tony. Half the time I wouldn't know what I was looking at, but it's always great to see vintage machines still being ridden & enjoyed.
