NSRA Hot Rod Drags - 2014.
From their website (as of 16/11/2013)  http://www.shakespearecountyraceway.com/eventdetails.asp?event=85

NSRA Original Hot Rod Drags: 12/09/2014 - 14/09/2014
Is it really more than a quarter of a century since four youthful and exuberant Birmingham based hot rodding enthusiasts first approached the owner of a British drag strip with the crazy idea for an event simply called the Hot Rod Drags? Well I guess it must be as 2013 saw the 25th anniversary of one of Europe’s most popular street and strip events this side of the Atlantic!

www.nsra.org.uk.

Every year the show quality content of Street Rods, American Muscle Machines and out-and-out race car nostalgia expected is second to done in this special NSRA co-ordinated event in three action packed days of 'street legal drag racing’ for pre ’73 high dollar hot rods and big block custom cars that were special before the land went decimal.

The roaring forties and niffy fifties were the cornerstone for drag racing in the land of the free, and it’s events like the Original Hot Rod Drags and the Nostalgia Nationals which help to recreate the golden days of hot rodding on disused airfield’s and the dry lake beds. Where else can you expect to see period Flathead roadsters and coupes, 200 mph blown methanol injected hot rods, ground thumping dragsters, big blocked Fiats and classic blown Willys Coupes? At the Hot Rod Drags of course!

Adding spice to the mix will be the high rolling Gasser Circus commonly known as the 'nose high marauders' featuring 'door cars’ from the 40s, 50s and 60s. Along for the ride will be the Flathead Meltdown Challenge where side valve engines still reign supreme. And last, but certainly no means least, will be the full on horsepower from the awesome Outlaw Anglia class and the Supercharged Outlaws complimenting a wide variety of strip action.

Within the ranks of the nostalgia world expect to see a big contingent from the Wild Bunch nostalgia class; a class where front engined 'slingshot' dragster and altereds rule and straight six Jaguars rub shoulders with Buick 'nailheads’ Fords, Chryslers and of course Chevrolet V8’s.

Saturday evening's entertainment focuses on the drag strip for the start line Cacklefest, Fire Burnouts and fireworks - a truly awesome visual and audible spectacle before the bands spark up in the main marquee and the disco begins at Kenny's Bar.
There will be a full trade village selling everything from T-shirts, books, DVDs, models and stickers.
If you haven't been to this event before and like the idea of seeing what your hot rod will do on the strip then take our advise - you won't get a better opportunity.

I'm putting this in my diary - no I've PUT it in my diary - so I don't commit myself to anything else, cos that's why I haven't got there the last couple of years!

Highly recommended to anyone who's never been, not just for the track action but the great cars you can see wandering round the paddock, the evening entertainment, and the sheer friendliness of all involved - oh and bring your camera!

So next year you're definitely, definitely gonna be there Bobbi?  Smiley
Spent the day there today, (Sunday), with Mr Lunatic. A lot of "down time", while the track crew cleared up oil spills etc, so not as much racing as normal, but I really go for the cars & the noise & the people & the whole spectacle of the thing. A lot of cars I hadn't seen before. My brother, Brock & his good lady, Black Pig were there with this year's slingshot dragster. Unfortunately they'd managed to break it before we got there though -I still haven't seen it run. Bent valve, broken spark plug & possible cylinder head damage apparently.
Bumped into several mates & generally had a good day. Would've been cooler to have gone in my truck like last year, but there's always next year.

Old meets new -huge turbo & fake patina on the roof -paint rubbed through in patches to reveal the carbon fibre underneath.
