speedo trouble

the speed cable on my gearbox is broken of level with the guide tube anyone got an easy fix. tried

pointy pliers
vise grips
drill (damed hard stuff)
and most sucessfully a small screwdriver, have got some of it out but can't get the last bit in the square drive out and have slightly damaged the guide so don't want to ruin it

if i take the back plate of the gearbox can i get at the back of this to knock it out and if i can how much work is involved in doing it

Sorry Eddie but your best bet is probably to drill a  hole down the centre using something like a cobalt drill bit (or carbide tipped) then break out the remaining strands. Use a fairly slow speed and plenty of lubricant/coolant.

Looks like i have opened my big mouth before looking. I have looked in my box o stuff and cant see the speedo drive anywhere so im sorry i wont be able to help you after all.

if you get desperate i,v got a spare g/box that could possibly be robbed ,

Think you've got a speedo drive fitted to your front wheel.
Not sure what ratio it is etc. but you were going to have to get the speedo re calibrated anyway. Might be worth doing a bit of maths, to see how far out it would be, if you use the bike drive and the Reliant speedo.
Or you could fit the correct speedo for the front wheel.

I do have a speedo drive in the front wheel i surpose a custom cable would get that going if i'm stuck,I think speedy cables can do both the recalibration and the cable
