I arrived for this one at 9.0.clock on Saturday morning, not knowing quite what to expect, but what a great event. Camberley council produce a range of events during the year to promote the town & bring in extra shoppers & Ken Bonner, a local classic car owner, had stepped forward to arrange a car show, with classic & custom vehicles spread throughout the town.
A simple idea, but very effective, bringing unusual vehicles to the general public, who probably wouldn't go to a normal classic or custom show. There were around 150 machines, spread between 2 main shopping streets & several pedestrian areas. Quite surreal really- an E type Jag outside Primark, a row of hotrods in front of the pub, scooters next to the fruit & veg stall, WW11 trucks in the service yard, even a top fuel dragster outside Mothercare, (Dave Wilson's top methanol rail), but it worked really well. There were collection buckets next to some of the cars, collecting cash for the kidney transplant association. Hope they did well. Barclays Bank had pledged to match whatever they collected. The general shopping public certainly loved it. I'll definitely be back next year.
