not cool !! i might fill this one with liquid before i paint it or what ever but i honstly think it's fine
I can't see any bits that might leak, get a gasket now and it will be ready to fit as soon as i decide
how to finish it

Well worth doing, it doesn't take long.  White spirit or petrol will quickly show any holes that you can't see otherwise.
Had to solder up a couple of pin holes in mine and would like an ally sump but it's not a priority

made a start on the handle bars today. first drilled 2 holes in a
piece of angle iron at the same spacing as the top yoke then welded
2 nuts on to 2 washers as with the engine mounts thene used a magnetic
clamp to ho;d the handle bar in place at hopefully 90 degrees

A little progress

then did the same with the other side (sorry forgot to take a pic !)

made 2 cross pieces on for the bottom and one for the top, tacked them in place
and ended up with this

I'm sure these wont be to everyone's taste but I wanted some thing quite
high but also wide, I think these fit the bill, all i need now is the switch
gear and throttle twist grip and i can sort the ends!

Very neatly done. I especially like the way you tightened up the bends as it were by cutting out a section.
As you say might not be to everyones taste (I like them) but so what, it's your trike.  Smiley

thanks ON ,the bender wouldn't go to a tight enough radius and was kinking the pipe so
we cut a v in the bar to get where we needed to be,hopefully be strong enough when
welded.

Yes Steven hopefully the mirrors will be on the bars,as my arms are quit high maybe
under them rather than on top

Hi Steven ,I think ours kinked because the tube isn't a good fit into the shoe
of the bender,it's only a cheap bender and the shoe's arn't very well made
(and yes I know a bad workman blames his tools  Grin)

what sort of rise did you go for? mines about 10" I think so quite high but
I like the way you bars slope down as they go back but i jut couldn't achieve
that unless I cut the bens through an reweld them on at a different angle

Looking good  Smiley
I opted to put mirrors underside of bars to keep top a little more "streamline". I welded a small mounting plate to front side of bars, on both left & right hand side, so mirrors could be mounted either under or above.

No problem at all, have good field of vision  Smiley
One good thing about having mirrors under bars is that if/when I need to pull a tarp over the trike it don't get hung up on mirrors like it would if they were on top Wink Smiley

sorta jumping from one thing to another so have abandon the handlebars for now and moved
on to the exhaust.as i scrapped a complete car to build this trike i had a complete exhaust in
quite good condition so decided to try an mod it to fit, waste not want not (and well i'm told
i'm a bit tight)

we cut it about 2 foot from the engine end and then cut the mounting flange of allowing
it to be moved closer to the engine then tacked the flang back on

A little progress

then using the bender bent it up and over the gearbox crossmember, surprisingly it
didn't kink as it's quite thin walled

and reused the backbox for now but this might get replaced withe something shiney in due coarse
and will maybe heatwrap the front pipe
