And then it was on to the engine mounts ,we started with a nut welded on to a washer

A little progress

Then because the engine mount is sitting on top of the frame side rail and the front brace we use 2 printouts from tubemitre to allow for
the 2 angles that we were trying to achieve and overlaid them to come up with this

A little progress

it worked out pretty good with only a bit of fettling required for a good fit

http://i1056.photobucket.com/albums/t373/Eddie096/F17B67E6-9489-486B-A967-F9CF8DA789B0-520-0000006F215CF97E.jpg
A little progress

we also decided that 1 washer may not be strong enough so before fully welding we put another washer on top for good measure

A little progress

both in place

Never used rubbers on any of mine Zak. Single washer's always worked fine too, but peace of mind's worth spending a little extra time on.  Wink
Nice work chaps.

i just wandered as i think the only reliant trike i owned had a engine kind of ruber mounting between the engine bracket and the bracket on the frame just thought it might have cut down on any vibration

Vibration's not been a real problem with mine.
Most of the bikes I've owned, (mostly Brit twins & 70s/80s Japs), have had solidly mounted engines. Similar vibration levels. No problem.  Smiley

Hopefully it will be ok without any rubber mount .All the posts I have read before starting have been solidly mounted so thats the way we went. If it is a problem we would have enough room to put a rubber mount in but that will be a last resort.

Tube mitre ?..I take it you just use a piece of paper rolled up or an old toilet roll tube to make a template ?

It's a program on the Internet tube mitre .exe .it allows you to input
2 pipe diameter and the angle at which they meet. When you print it
out you get 2 lines on the page, one solid one dashed just cut along
the solid line and rap the paper around the tube then mark the line and
your ready to cut.seems fairly accurate

Don't need some computer ,praps I'm to old school ?..I musta watched to much Blue Peter ?..he,he..I'm enjoying your build guys ,keep it up..

ado scannerzer, im sure you know the layout of you frame by now, but sometimes you dont see things untill its to late, depending on the hight of your backbone(tank tube) it may be worth removing the cross member in front of the engine,, the strength will still be there as the engine mounts hold the frame rails,, but you may need to slide the motor forward to get it out, it may just save the paint on the frame Wink  just an observation
