I have used Simoniz engune enamel on air cooled bike motors. Comes in gloss and satin black. Its really good and does not come off easily. Frosts do a variety of their own stuff in various colours. I have also used Halfords 5 wheel steel to good effect too on water cooled engines.

i,v found truck enamel and plant and machinery enamel very good and quite cheap (the stuff they paint tractors and jcb,s with)  the last i bought was £12 a gallon, our richard (my nephew) uses it on brake calipers aswell and it doesnt come off  |

ive used simoniz gloss black on my reliant engine/gearbox etc, its good tack i used etch primer on some patrs but its just as good without doesnt scratch easy off the ally, altough when i had a leek on the carb the fuel soon bubbled up the paint on the inlet manifold |

I normely use 2k paint as you can get it in thousands of colours. I mix it like your going to spray it but dont put the thinners in, that way you can brush paint it on and it comes out nice and smooth. On the engine I'm using now, as I wanted black, I have used BBQ spray. (Also us that on my exhausts) |
