Never seen one in the flesh, but I think the London offices used to use those old electric mail trolleys up until quite recently. There's quite a big market for Royal Mail memorabilia. One of our Posties used to collect old uniforms -used to pay a fortune for them. We're due to change ours again soon -going from dark blue to red shirts & grey combat style trousers, (I filled in the order form for mine last week). There's talk again of us being privatised -change of uniform a coincidence? Maybe not.
When I started there 25 years ago we wore dark grey. We had heavy woollen donkey jacket style coats for the Winter & peaked caps. The managers used to do a uniform inspection before we went out. You weren't allowed out in public without a tie on.
Then we went to dark blue with a red stripe down the sides of the trousers. Even the mail delivery bags have changed, from brown hessian, (I've still got a brand new unused one), to blue to red. Maybe I should keep my old gear when it changes & flog it on Ebay!
