manky, just looking at your clutch set up on pg 67 there does not seem to be a lot off travel on the clutch arm before it hits the gearbox ?does the shaft that goes into the slave cylinder just rest in the end off the cylinder or is it fixed somehow?just trying to get my head around how it all works i dont know how much movement it needs to depress the clutch

Hiya,
good ol' Reliant engineering! Yeah, the gearbox casing is the clutch arm stop! There's only about an inch of travel between fully engaged & dis-engaged. In practice you only need to just dip the clutch very lightly to change gear so rarely push it far enough to contact the casing.
The end of the push rod has a ball on it, (hemi spherical if you want to be posh about it). That locates in a dip in the face of the cylinder piston, giving the rod a bit of sideways leeway. Some cylinders have a circlip that holds the rod into the end of the cylinder, but as far as I remember, mine's just trapped between the fixed cylinder & the clevis attached to the clutch arm, so it can't fall out.
