Haven't got a bike/trike to go on, but wouldn't mind being at Popham to see you all arrive. Is there a rough idea of arrival time?

Here's the schedule from the website!

Charity motorcycle event
If you are a motorcyclist, (including scooters etc), why not join us for a charity ride-out from Stokes Bay carpark, Gosport, to Popham airfield on Sunday 11th July 2010. We aim to set off at 10:00am and work our way up through Fareham, West Meon, Farringdon, Alton, Basingstoke and onto Popham airfield.

Help for Heroes (H4H) was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry after a profoundly moving visit to Selly Oak Hospital in the summer of 2007. Bryn and Emma met some extraordinarily brave young people who had been badly wounded and they just wanted to do something to help. ( http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk )

Keep watching for further announcements. This will enable you to join the ride from most areas and together, raise as much money as possible for this very worthwhile charity.

——————————————

Schedule -11th July 2010
(Last updated Saturday 17th April 2010)

* Please note: This route will be adhered too throughout the ride, so you have to find your own joining point. Also, although we have listed “Pick Up” points, the ride will NOT stop at these locations. They are meant only as meeting points for people wishing to join the ride out. *
** Marshals will control the flow of traffic along the route for the safety of all riders **

08:30->  -   Begin to meet in Stokes Bay car park (Cafe has been informed, and will be ready for an influx!)

10:00      -   Leave car park (Strict timing) enroute to Fareham. (5 miles) (Bikers wanting to join in Fareham area, you need to tag on somewhere between Trinity Street, Fareham and the A32 towards Loomies Cafe. (Fareham/Loomies 16 miles)

10:45     -    Pickup Point: Loomies Cafe on A32. Continue along A32 to Farringdon (8 miles)

11:00     -    Pickup Point: Bahnstormers BMW, Farringdon. Continue along A32, turning right onto A31 towards Alton. Turn left under railway arch onto A339. (Farringdon/Alton 4 miles) Continue along A339 to Basingstoke. (Alton/Basingstoke 14 miles)

11:20     -    Arrive Blackdam, Basingstoke. Turn 1st left in Grove Road/Harrow Way. Follow onto A30.

11:30     -    Pickup Point: Motts Motorcycles, Kempshott. Continue along A30 to Popham airfield. (Motts/Popham 3 miles)

11:40     -    ** Arrive Popham airfield **

** Please bear in mind that other than the STRICT leaving time from Gosport, all travelling times are approximate. They are geared towards a gentle ride to include all machines/rider capabilities, possible money collection points and any possible traffic bottlenecks, roadworks etc.

We are aiming for this to be a HIGH PROFILE run, so please tell every biker you know about the event. We have the official poster/flyer on here at the bottom of this page, so please feel free to download and print.  As this is a charity event, the fun and safety aspect is of great importance to us all. Please leave any petrol-head/boy-racer tendencies at home for the day, and lets do something worthwhile!

Hampshire Constabulary have been notified of the run, so PLEASE ensure you are legal!

** You attend this event at your own risk. No liability rests with anybody involved with this event. Safety is of course paramount, but the onus is upon yourself. If attending, please ensure you understand this. **

I was all set to go then noticed a problem with my gears and thought it prudent not to - even with my alluring good looks and oh so sweet nature, the RAC man only wants to see me so many times!  Shame really as I was looking forward to it (the run that is, not the RAC man).  It would be nice to hear from someone on the forum who was there.

Maybe next time.
