Seem to be a lot of legends passing away lately. Another one this morning. One of the leading lights in the American rod scene, "Lil' John" Buttera, drag racer & builder of some of the most beautiful rods you'll ever see.
This has an extra poignancy for me cos I was at the NSRA swapmeet in Essex this morning & spotted this Revell model, still unmade & in it's original box, for sale on one of the stalls. I remember buying this when I was a teenager, without really knowing who Buttera was. Spooky to arrive home & find he's no longer with us.
Being crass for a moment, I bet the price would've doubled had the stall holder known.
RIP Lil' John.
