Chorley’s Veteran, Vintage & Classic Auction, Prinknash Abbey, Glos. Saturday 21st August 2010 11.00 Prinknash Abbey Park, GL4 8EX The usual peaceful surroundings of Chorley’s saleroom at Prinknash is soon to be shattered by the sound of revving throttles and the smell of engine grease as Chorley’s herald the arrival of entries in their newest auction of Veteran, Vintage & Classic Motorcycles on Saturday 21st August.
The undisputed Star of the Show is a magnificent 3 ½ hp single-cylinder Bradbury ‘Speed’, built in 1911 and restored in 2008 by the late Peter Sole, whose name is extremely wellknown in the biking world. In its first year of showing, this motorcycle won Best in Show at Stafford and Champion of Champions at Malvern. The sale has something to suit all pockets and tastes and other bikes in the sale include a Francis Barnett 98cc Powerbike in original condition, estimated to fetch around £1,200-1,500; a gleaming red BSA Road Rocket from 1957, and a Norton ES2 from the previous year, each with an estimate of £3,000-4,000. Also included is a group of trials bikes dating from the 1930s to 1960s which have been run until very recently.
