Title: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: tazet on June 22, 2007, 06:58:14 AM
Just interested to find out where everyone heard of this site. If you think I have missed an option on the poll that should be there let me know and I will add it.
I heard through my ex so have to mark other. Think he found it by accident. Must have been fate :)

We're linked to porn sites? Cool!
There's no box for "I thunked it up then asked Yodie to build it for me".
Or "No-one else would let me join their sites so I had to start my own". :(

Manky heard about our trike and passed on a message that he wanted to see some pictures of it through someone he works with, who is in the same volkswagen club as I am. I met Manky earlier that year when he took some wheels I had for trikerpete, but I dont think he mentioned the site then. Which is unusual! ;)

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: Manky Monkey on June 22, 2007, 08:40:59 PM
Actually, I'm deliberately quite restrained about pushing the site. As Yodie says, far better for people to find us by recommendation. Tazet however constantly shoves cards at people at shows, much to my embarrassment!  ;D
The disc conversion was in 100% Biker by the way, unless you meant when it was mentioned in the recent feature on Flap's trike in BSH.
This is interesting. Prompted by Tazzie & I checking the site statistics the other night, (for admin eyes only!).
So far this month we've had 1916 unique visitors, (those who've never visited the site before), & 701768 hits.
April's been the busiest month so far this year with 2632 unique & 976015 hits, (not quite cracked the million mark yet).
Of course, only a fraction of the visitors to the site use this forum.
Tuesdays, teatime till midnight, are the most popular visiting time, while the link from the NSRA forum, (National Street Rod Association), provides the greatest number of visitors, followed by a couple of search engines, with Brit Chopper in 4th place.
Thanks for the compliments guys, but I can't take credit for the forum's popularity -it's you lot who make it the warm & fluffy little place it is.
Thank you. ;D

Take that bow mate, if it wasn't for you we wouldn't have this little family :-[ sorry got all mushy there ;D. I do have to admit that you have a very marketable product going here Andy. When I first visited the site I thought it was a professional outfit .
You could sell the merchandise for a small profit, plans for Reliant trikes (as I keep telling everyone who will listen, and some who won't >:( >:(, this is the premier Reliant trike site) but I do know that all that means little to you. You are far to modest mate and I hope Tazet keeps on raising your profile, as for me I'm actively looking for a cheap Reliant so I can join the club and I have already built it in my head ::) ::) ::) :-* :-*

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: Manky Monkey on June 22, 2007, 09:25:12 PM
Any professionalism's down to the magnificent Mr Yodles' very hard work. He somehow manages to put my visions here on the screen for all to see. Thanks matey.
I keep saying to Taz that the site logo's as good as any T shirt we see at meets & shows & the name's quite catchy. Took a while to come up with it &, again, it was a joint forum effort as you can see here:
http://www.mankymonkeymotors.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=228.0
Wish I'd taken you up on that offer of a blat around the rodshow field on Bobcat -didn't want to make a prat of myself in public -or drop it!
Hurry up & get that trike out of your head & into your shed!  ;)

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?

Trikes got to wait until I've finished ALL my other projects first ::) and Bobcat is available anytime you fancy a go mate, and falling off just adds patina ;D ;D ;D

See Manky - it pays to hand out MMM business cards.  And thank you Tazet for the top up yesterday!  ;)  Hope you both had a good day.

By the way, you need to add a little box for Business card on your voting page.  ;)

Any chance of a copy of the business card? (scan will do)

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: tazet on June 26, 2007, 06:33:38 AM
PM me you're email and I will send you one. I'm sure we can pop one in the post for you too. This is what they look like but with more white on the sides (scanner did it square for some reason)
We used to have Andy's phone number on it but changed it as we thought it best.

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: Manky Monkey on June 26, 2007, 09:53:00 AM
It's not that we're pretending to be a business or anything, just that people always ask the name of the website or how they can get in touch & we've never got a pen or a bit of paper, so it's easier just to pull a card out of your pocket & hand it to them.

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: TwistedPatience on June 26, 2007, 04:11:33 PM
I have been asked a few times for the web address meself, so i thought those cards would do nicely.

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?
Post by: tazet on June 26, 2007, 04:33:12 PM
Just sent you the card via email. Best thing would be if I print some off and send them to you rather than you trying to print them as the size of the picture in the scan is not very card like  ;D

Twisted and Dynatrike, I've printed some sheets off for you and as soon as I can get some A4 envilopes then they will be in the post. There is a dotted break line where you fold and pop the cards out. Is easier to send as a whole sheet rather than break them up first.

Just to rewind a bit "plans for reliant trikes" Yes please MM. Never bent a bit pipe in my life but just found out my mate Landy not only has a proffessional welder but a PIPE Bender as well. Says he can get me some pipe to practice with and let me loose on the welder as well. The fact I am building him an extention to his house cheep might have something to do with it.I know the site ain't a buisiness but whatever you charge could go to charity ie Monkey World

Mr Fred, we don't sell plans cos we don't have any. Although they're all the same design, every trike is slightly different to fit the rider and suit their tastes. As Dynatrike says, check the Motors/three wheels section of the main site for the frame building write up. We use heavyweight ERW tube, (4mm wall thickness), which costs roughly £1.50/£2 a foot.

well added mr manky when i built my first trike, i had gone to a bike rally and later i roughly had an idea in my head how to set it out then santa, yes he does exist brought me my beloved pipe bender :P god knows how that came down our chimmney it was bloody heavy what did help was that i could already weld and had a very large 9" grinder a must for all trike builders and fabricators oh and baby one as well 4" ;) if you have got vision fred go for it you only live once, and build one the more the merrier ;)

Well, I've had to double the size of the site again. We were full up. For those that are interested in that kinda thing, we're now up to 4GB, which costs about 85 quid a year through ukhost4u.com  That should keep us going for a while. Next step will be to switch to a business package of 8GB at about 100 quid a year.
Thanks for your continued support people.  ;)

I was told about the site by some friends of mine, not sure if you know them, Ann & Barry Smith from Maidenhead, Barry has a '41 Willys (Pitman) and is building a '33 Willys.
I've been browsing the site for a while and thought it was about time I got off my fat ass and joined so here I am, I'm Ralph, also from Maidenhead, but moving to Maidens Green, Near Bracknell/Ascot in the near future, if it don't all go tit's up.
No trike at the moment only an old banger but the plan is to build a Reliant based trike after the move, will have a garage then, wahoo :).
I won't bore you with all my ailments, lets just say I'm a bit of an old crock, lol, 60 going on 21 in my head, 60 going on 100 everywhere else.
Have some query's about build but will open a new thread in Trike Tech.
Well, that's me.........by the way Hello All, Ralph.

Hiya Ralph.  ;)
Welcome to the site Sir. Another Reliant triker?! At this rate every triker on one of Tamworth's finest will be a forum member here! -no bad thing.  :) Nice to meet you. Kettle's on, fancy a cuppa?
Oh yeah, one of my duties here is to hassle newbies for vehicle write ups -any chance of nipping round to your mates' place & sorting some snaps & words on their Willys? Don't recognise the names but may well know the car. Maybe see you at the Bracknell breakfast run on 23rd March. ;D

Howdo.

Doc (TP) said that I should introduce my self to the forum, So here I go I'm a bit of a bumpkin (not to be confused with bum boy) <-- hope this don't offend, I have been into bikes since I was quite young and took a constant interest in my grand dad's Triumph restoration projects (he has 5 he has built from scratch). I got my first bike in 2002, which was a Suzuki GS125ESR, which I loved; I had it for just over a year but sold it when I got my first car because it had carb problems. Since then I have acquired a 1984 Honda CD125TC Benley which had been off the road for 14 years and needed some work to get it back on the road which I endeavored to do. Passed my test in June 2007 and used the CD for about 7 months until I got bored with its lack of power and speed. Doc and I then started looking around for a new bike for me and I stumbled across a 1981 Suzuki GS250T and a 1980 GSX250 so I bought them both. They had both not been used for a few years and needed some work so I decided to get the GS running and pilfered parts from the GSX to do just that! I nicked the Wheels, Carbs, Air Filters (K&N's) and some of the electrical system. Got it MOT'd after the third attempt, taxed it and now take great pleasure in blatting around on it as much as I can!

Joined the forum to peruse for information, help and a laugh and maybe even pass on any help to others that I can.

Would also like to thank Doc for his help with bike problems that I have encountered and for introducing me to the Manky Monkey web site.

Cheers all, Zipwanger.

Followed a web thread posted on another triker site while researching Reliant builds.

Very impressed, like the threads, information and builds.

Especially like the styles of reliant trikes being made, short, compact, neat and stylish.  Would like to see one with a independant rear suspension.  (Bad back a'nall).

Will post a introduction sooooooon. ::)

Hi guys, newbie here.

Have popped into your site quite a lot lately but found out about you a couple of years ago at the south west show (great display there btw).

Thats where I decided I had to have one of 'those trike things', they just looked so coooooool.

Hopefully going to get started soon. :-\

I've never done anything like building or fabrication so should be fun ::)

Same as Manky then. The lock up that he has his trike in has no power either. He started the trike off in Skaman's garage where there was power and now has to finish it in the dark. He brings stuff home to do in the shed but that's a 38 mile comute so to do something that would take 5 mins actually takes about 3 days. Where the pop is has power but when he's there he's busy trying to build the pop and not the trike Catch 22 whichever way you look at it. My trike is in the shed at home with power etc but we will have to dismantle it to get it out the door when it's done.

My shed is the only place i have any power, Mrs T holds all the power indoors  ;D

er no. That would invovle dismantling the shelf we have at one end and the bench would need modifying as it't bolted to the ends of the shed too. We could probably get it out by removing the wheels and lifting the back out.

Title: Re: How did you hear about this site?

Hi Si  ;D
As usual, I've been beaten to it with the Welcomes, but welcome anyway.   ;)
We displayed at the Shepton Mallet show 2 years running, plus I had my old red Reliant on show in the main hall many years ago & my green one, (now Ska Man's blue one), was also in the main hall. It's amazing how often I chat to people who say Yeah, we saw your trikes at Shepton. Seems we made more of an impact than we realised at the time.  :)
As Tanya said, even small jobs become major ones in my lock-up. Without a power supply, just marking out & drilling a hole requires a trip home & back. It's certainly not impossible though & all my vehicles have been built that way or in various borrowed garages.
We plan to build a much bigger workshop/shed/trike garage at some point next year, so might end up dismantling the existing shed around Taz's trike when it's done!
TB, I don't hold the power anywhere mate.  :)

There's a possibility I might be able to use my dads garage but they have not been too well (mum with cancer and dad with Parkinson's) so they are thinking of moving somewhere smaller and on only one floor (so prob no garage :'()

It's just a matter of timing. I cant start the build yet as money is v.short (going to do some o/t at work (already do 50hrs a week)) then need to find donner p/pig, buy tube bender (already have welder) and some other tools and then away I go. the main target is to have it on the road by next winter, its harder to fall of with 3 wheels ;D

Yeah, we get a lot of that. Show organisers hook up to our galleries through their sites to show their events. Fine by us, as long as we get a credit for it. Welcome aboard mate.  ;)

Hiya Brett  ;) & a belated welcome to the site!
Yeah, we're like driftwood on the shoreline -everyone washes up here eventually  :)
You'd be suprised how many people never visit the forum while they're here -or only use the forum & never visit the rest of the site. So you're a genuine Tasmanian Devil then? Whatcha building? Got any piccies to share with us?
We're always looking for more content for the site, so if you've got a bunch of event photos, send 'em in & we'll bung 'em on.  ;)

Welcome Tasmonkey!

Our next door neighbours were returning to Oz and he had a kit car he's built with a 1600 engine in, he wanted to put a 3 litre lump in it so he was busy all hours of day and night in the garage getting it all done before he went cos he said the only way was to register it here them import it to Oz!

Pity when people's creativity is stifled.

crazy and definitely beyond the help of mortal man ;D ;D ;D ;D

Many years from now , alien archaeologists from a far distant planet will be sifting through the rubble of a long dead planet , they will find a room , in this room will be a box . After many years of research they will discover that the box was a type of data storage device , after over a decade of study by the best minds on their home planet they manage to access and decipher the data contained within , they will deduce from this data that the owner of the box was a member of a sect that worshipped vehicles that ran on a type of fossil fuel , this fossil fuel it seemed to the aliens , had been through war and pollution the cause of the ultimate destruction of the planet , only one name could be recovered from the ancient device ... thought to be the 77th. member of his clan ( or really really old ) ,  that name will go down forever  in the history of this distant alien planet  .......  that name was   "Cabman77"  "Destroyer of worlds"

so you see you are not just a mortal  ...  you will become  Immortal

  ..  Hagar  ..   ;D
