Title: Rockingham - from 215mph lap to vehicle storage Post by: Tony oily bike on February 20, 2021, 06:06:55 PM Rockingham was the first banked oval constructed in Britain since the closure of Brooklands in 1939, and opened in 2001 with a cracking event (including a certain oily fellow crawling round on one of the parade laps on a borrowed 1930s/40s Velocette GTP being overtaken by just about everything including thunderous historic race cars being driven with chaps in flat caps giving 'em the beans).
Nowadays its being used as a vehicle storage facility. In its heyday it saw a lap record set at a little over 215mph by Tony Kannan.
