Post by: Manky Monkey on July 10, 2010, 10:16:10 PM
Been looking for somewhere to go tomorrow, so might do this. If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's a nice little show. Steam & vintage vehicles.
8 miles North of Reading, Berkshire on the A4074.

The Rally is open from 10am on Saturday and Sunday, and closes at 11pm on Saturday, and 6pm on Sunday.

Admission costs:

Adults: £8
Children and Senior Citizens: £4
Family tickets available at £22
Children under 5 free

Good job I wore a blue one then -well, it was grey & overcast when I left home this morning.
Soon turned into another scorcher of a day though.
Nice little show. One I'd put on my "nice little afternoon out" list I think. Not huge, but lots of variety & enthusiasm. Some interesting machinery.
As the arena commentator said, there seems to be a resurgence in the classic car scene at the moment, with more vehicles than ever being restored & regularly used, which can only be a good thing. The steam scene seems equally popular -always good to see lots of kids riding on their Grandad's road roller or showman's engine. They'll be the restorers of the future.
We'll store the photos for now & get them online as soon as we've sorted the rest of the website.
Nice to see you, Neil & Justine by the way, as well as several other familiar faces.

Anyone remember the mid mounted V8 milkfloat from the custom shows of the late 70s? Was it Ray Christopher who built it? Memory's getting a bit hazy these days. Pretty sure this ain't the original. Waited all afternoon to see it on the move, but the owners seemed quite happy to just sit & enjoy the sunshine. There should be more wacky vehicles like this on the roads.

I think there was 3 or 4 different milk floats done over the years, can't remember were i saw it but recently saw a pic of the original float under a sheet in a garden.I'm sure it was about to be redone.
There was also one at Extreme wheels when it was at Ally pally.
