I do enjoy a nice steam fair. Love the smell of woodsmoke & hot oil!

That's going in my diary - just up the road from us (well, and along a bit), sounds like a good day out!

Might be an outing for Mike's Jag and maybe for young Mike's Landrover Fire Engine too - could be a family weekend!  In fact maybe we should book a stand "White family Vehicles" - the trike, the Jag, the fire engine and young Mike's classic Kwak!

You didn`t miss much today mate. Its a 3 day event but appears that the friday is a set-up day, with that in mind i didn`t expect it all up and running, and it wasn`t!.
One of the exhibitors told me that due to heavy rain, entry to the site was stopped on thursday evening and only opened again this morning, so no surprise that not all exhibitors had arrived and or set up.
The site is a nice size and the different sections have been laid out well, but there were obvious gaps among the displays and i can only assume the inclemant weather was to blame.
I only managed 44 pics, mostly of stationary engines, which was a bit annoying cos i`ve bought a new memory card that can hold over a thousand!
This show certainly has the potential to be worth the 140 mile round trip, with that in mind, i look forward to better weather for next year.

What a shame, guys.
We went to the Ackworth Steam Festival in W.Yorks.
I viewed the trip with trepidation as only 6 steam engines were being exhibited, but wanted to browse round the Autojumble.
We got there 10 minutes after the gates opened - 10.10 - and left at around 2 pm, there was so much to see.
The autojumble was the only disappointment - ideal for the pile of rusty bits for the Basingstoke show!
Some nice classic bikes on show and some interesting Combinations, no trikes though. We loved all the miniature steam engines that were running around
Weather started out very overcast, we had one shower and in the afternoon the sun came out.
Now we're looking forward to the Driffield show. We'd like to go to the Pickering show, but I'm having a cataract operation 2 days before
Cheers
David

I really enjoy steam fairs -must be an age thing!
If you have enough photos for a gallery we'd be happy to run them in the event photos section of the site -once we get it up & running again.
