Title: shaft drive bikes Post by: jevi on December 04, 2009, 07:42:30 PM As a newby I was wondering how hard it is to fit a wider wheel on a shaft drive bike, namely my ural 650, I have been looking at some interesting stuff on one of the Russian bike sites and Basty bikes but can't see hoe other people have done it. I thought about moving the engine over slightly. I'm trying to get the bike to sit lower at the back so thought a 16" rim might look the biz with a fatter tyre!
I have seen photo's of someones ural with the swinging arm stretched and may try mowing the shock mount forward and up slightly to try and drop the back a little keeping the 19" wheel that's fitted. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do cos originally I was going to trike the damned thing! Title: Re: shaft drive bikes Post by: snafu on December 04, 2009, 08:02:49 PM take a look here http://www.markvanderkwaak.com/ at cad bike 33, you can see the build from cad to actual bike, somewhere in the build pics is his origional plunger bike. look like the way to do it is with bare shaft, recon its only an option on hard tail or plunger though.

I think its going to be down to time and money (as usual) as to which way things go. I will try and post pics as and when the build starts.
