Title: Advice required. Post by: hairy monsta on April 17, 2008, 03:50:25 PM Morning peeps, hows it hanging ;D ?
Just a quick question. Which reliant diff should I use? (gear ratios) The one I was going to use has the letter B next to the serial number, which as I understand it would make it from a Rialto 2. Now the problem there (if Ive understood things correctly ???) is the size of my wheels/tyres being 26.6" and the diff ratio of that axle being 2.78/1. Would this only serve to make any gearing problems worse? Would I be better off using a robbin axle with a choice of 3.23/1 and 3.545/1 ratios, or even a regal at 4.37/1 :-\ or have I got this all arse about face again ::) ;D Title: Re: Advice required. Title: Re: Advice required. Post by: madron on April 17, 2008, 08:42:45 PM hm what that means is the lower the numbers the taller the gearing so you would have something like 120mph top end in theory but would struggle to set off having to rev higher to pull away or get a more powerful engine to overcome this i have a robin axle if you want to swap which would lower the gearing to make your engine more useable thru the rev range

Chears for the info. As I thought then. Arse arse arse, and for those without their glasses or a little hard of hearing, ARSE ! ;D Hi Ron thanks for the offer but i'll hang onto rialto axle for now fella cheers. I have a regal axle I may use. The rialto one has been rebuilt (before I bought it) and had new hubs machined and not yet drilled which would have saved some work as my wheels are Jag pattern :( I'll have to see if the hubs will swap over, knowing my luck they won't, I know the splind end is different. |
