Well, here we are at the start of another small project again. I bought this little baby a couple of weeks ago, at Beaulieu.

Thought the grand kids could put it to some use. Oh, and you guys know me by now, it can’t be left standard/original !! So, with a set of wet kart tyres (from that well known auction site, two complete sets for £1.57) and some spiffy alloy wheels and we're on our way.

These are so easy to fit by hand, it’s almost kids play.   ;D

That’s where we’re at today, I should be picking some axle adaptors up tomorrow (I just gave the all the size details over the phone this afternoon to the machine shop and they said they’d do them in the morning).
So some more tomorrow.

I bought a set of 4 kart slicks to make a welding trolley. Only need 2 but the seller wouldn't split them. Cost me 10 quid each, so yours really were a bargain.

All the tyres came without wheels, had to buy them separately. Just to add insult to injury, Andy, there was also two rear slicks in the bundle as well.

I thought I’d better get the fixings for the hubs sorted so I was ready to fit them as soon as the adaptors were done.
First the axle tubes were tapped down the middle.

The “stud” cut to length.

A hole drilled in the axle and the stud screwed in to the right depth.

Rosette welded in the hole.

Then the weld cleaned up.

This obviously done on all four corners.

Picked up the adaptors at lunch time as promised.

So now we have all the bits that just need assembling.

The adaptors were slid onto the axle.

Hub securing nut fitted and tightened.

A hole drilled and tapped through the adaptor and into the axle.

Then secured with a grub screw coated with Loctite.

The hub was then slid over the spindle and secured.

Same proceedure was carried out on all four corners.

Now it’s the time to fit the wheels to the hubs and ……….. Voila.

 Perhaps a re spray in candy apple red and chrome the handle for extra bling.  :D

Not sure yet, have some vinyl coming to trim the inside and maybe a wood kit like this

Or I have some 316 stainless tube left over from the screen frame on the boat that I could probably do something with.
